Summertime

Summertime and the living is easy. If you are like me everything is better in the summer. The period lasting from a few days after Canadian Thanksgiving (second Monday in October) until a week or two after Easter is period during which you work hard, make money, plan vacations and so on. From mid-April until mid-October is when you really enjoy everything life has to offer. At least I feel that way!

When I say that everything is better in the summer I really mean it. The food is even better. I find the fruits and vegetables fresher. It's easier to find local organic meats, poultry and eggs. I just love the smell of a BBQ in the summer. Although I BBQ all winter long. I'm unable to sit outside and enjoy the summer smells while the smoke of the BBQ wafts by.

I find that people tend to be more social in the summer. More people meet for a drink on a patio or for a backyard BBQ. Family reunions seems to happen with more frequency in the summer. And, of course, cottage parties are a summertime event.

I get to enjoy my favorite sports in the summer. Some sports, like tennis, I get to enjoy more frequently in the summer. Others of my favorite sports, like being on my Seadoo, only happen in the summer. In fact, seadoos alone would make summers my favorite season. I love to launch my Seadoo in the lake and go for a solo ride.

I am an avid gardener. One of my favorite days each month is when I receive my gardening magazine. I try to put it aside until the following Saturday morning when I can curl up in a chair by a window, sip my coffee and dream of what I might plant in the coming spring thaw. Gardening is a very special thing I can do in the summer. I love the ability to cut my own herbs as I am preparing supper.

I am going to devote this blog to all of the things I love to do in the summertime. These activities will range from gardening to, BBQ recipes, to outdoor parties, to sporting activities such as tennis and seadoos.
